A Monsoon Song

A gentle sway of distant palms
Cool breeze soothing as a healing balm
Sweet fragrance of fallen petals on grass
Greet shining monsoon rain droplets of glass
Thunder strikes to light up the sky
Peacocks dance in splendor n cry
Small rivulets meander around green grass
Kids shriek in delight as paper boats toss
Revelers rain dance to celebrate first shower
Darkness soon descends at an early hour
Love birds cozy n embrace in alleys dark
Croaking toads raise pitch in the park
Crickets rush to lamppost to test their mettle
Soon bite dust n lie next to fallen petals

The poem is as beautiful as the aroma that rises from the earth when it rains, the subtle sound of the falling rain and the light reflected in the tiny droplets in my garden.
